Here in Canada, we've been waiting for spring for a while now, and I have to say, my patience with winter has been running out a bit. So I grabbed one of reference shots I did last spring and whipped up this little piece. It's a kind of magical thinking but for artists: if I paint it, maybe it will come sooner.
Before you is a view from the edge of a forest towards a lake down below. The trees are bare still but there's green on the ground. And there's mud, but, hey, I'll take mud if it means spring. The sky is looking kind of grumpy, so it will probably rain some more.
The painting is executed in a loose, impressionistic style, with lots of texture and conspicuous brushwork.
